Sharks looking to rebound from loss in L.A. tonight at home against Coyotes
(SAN JOSE) -- The San Jose Sharks haven't lost a lot this season, so every time they do, it's interesting to note how they respond to the adversity.
After a 4-3 overtime loss in Los Angeles to the Kings on Wednesday night, the Sharks host the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at the SAP Center looking to start another winning streak in this young 2013-14 National Hockey League season.
The loss to the Kings on the road wasn't such a big deal: Los Angeles just won the Stanley Cup a few years ago, obviously, so they're still a very good team. And San Jose did gain a point in the standings for getting to overtime.
But the Sharks did have three different leads in the game they couldn't protect: the Kings never led in the game until they won it in overtime. That kind of repeated defensive letdown has to be a concern for San Jose going forward.
Tonight, against Phoenix, though, the Sharks will want to add to their Pacific Division lead: San Jose (10-1-2) currently has 22 points to lead the Pacific, one point ahead of the Anaheim Ducks (10-3-1).
The Coyotes (9-3-2) are just two points behind the Sharks in the division standings, and they have won three games in a row. But Phoenix has an overall goal differential of just +4 on the season,

Meanwhile, San Jose leads the NHL in goal differential at +27 this season,

San Jose is 6-0 at home this year, and after tonight,

So to take advantage of these three straight homes becomes all the more important for San Jose right now.
