Dick Van Dyke's near death auto incident: Is something wrong with him?

As one caller said, "I don't think he's aware it's on fire", according to TMZ on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The legendary 87-year-old actor's Jaguar exploded into flames, just moments after a passer-by heroically yanked him from his smoking vehicle. Van Dyke seemed unaware of the ordeal as he sat on the side of the 101 Freeway and was attempting to make phone calls for help.
A CHP log of the incident noted that the driver was still inside, possibly unaware that the vehicle was on fire, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Several witnesses placed calls, saying the situation was dire. Dick was not moving out of the Jaguar. That's a scary scenario, considering the legendary actor's age.
Thankfully a good Samaritan stopped and pulled the actor out of the vehicle, just before it exploded in flames. But it raises questions about the his faculties.

But hopefully the fact that Dick, who was reported to be slumped over the wheel because he was trying to call for help, is just that.
Always funny, Van Dyke joked that his Jaguar was now on the market.
